A German Shorthaired Pointer bitch from Norwich in Norfolk has won the Kennel Club Open Hunt, Point and Retrieve (HPR) Gundog Working Test, held at Chatsworth House, Derbyshire by the gracious permission of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The judges were Eddie Hales and Rita Howard. The event is kindly sponsored by Eukanuba.
‘Jerzi’, owned and handled by Lucie Hustler, was awarded first place at the test which saw talented gundogs tested on their hunting and retrieving skills.
Lucie said: “Winning the HPR Open at Chatsworth with homebred Jerzi (Aytee Juniper) was a great honour and it continues what has been a marvellous 2016/17 season for her, which included open field trial wins in the UK and Ireland and holding the Irish Kennel Club HPR Dog of the Year title for 2016. She is such a genuine dog that always gives 110 percent and she hunted very hard in that heat so I was delighted for her. A big thank you to everyone involved in organising what was a super weekend and to the sponsors for their very generous prizes”.
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: “Congratulations to Lucie and Jerzi on their success. They clearly are a winning team and highlight the versatility of the popular HPR breeds. We wish them all the very best for the future”.
