Groomer Of The Year 2011 Is Crowned

Posted: 13/10/11

Su Eld-Weaver was named as the 2011 Groomer of the Year at the British Dog Grooming Championship , winning with a Standard Poodle Scissor and a clipped/stripped Irish Setter. Runner-up was Joanne Angus, and third place went to Peter Ensell. Receiving her trophy, Su said: ‘I am over the moon. I wanted to do what I could to my best level, I’m just glad the judges liked it.’

With nearly 80 competitors, and more than 100 dogs being groomed, the competition was the biggest ever in the 31-year history of the Championship. Visitors enjoyed the variety of classes in the competition and picked up bargains from the trade stands.

‘We’re delighted at this record entry with many former title holders taking part; our seminars were also a sell-out, proving once again groomers’ appetite for continuous professional development,’ commented Janet Nunn, chief executive of the Pet Care Trust. ‘We are very grateful to our sponsors, judges, speakers and demonstrators, and all our volunteers for their support in our 31st year and look forward to our 2012 Championship.’
