UK-based Byopet To Use Singapore As Launch Pad
26 September 2011 marked the day when Singapore became the first country in the world to launch Byopet, a British invention for the pet care industry set to revolutionize the way hygiene is maintained by people and places that are in contact with animals. The British High Commissioner, His Excellency Mr Antony Phillipson was Guest of Honour at the launch.

Despite Byopet being a British invention, its creators from Worcestershire decided to use Singapore as a base to launch the product to the whole of Australasia because of the country’s receptiveness to new technologies and products. The Pet Lovers Centre (PLC) with 48 retail shops has been appointed as the sole distributor of Byopet in Singapore.
Jill Angell, Director of Byopet, said, “The people of Singapore and Asia are very fast and early adopters of new products, ideas and technologies.” PLC is the most forward-looking pet retailer in the world, in our opinion – the rest of Australasia looks to PLC to lead the way in ‘delighting’ customers and being first to market with new products,” she commented, on her choice to go with PLC for the launch.
Byopet is a new range of topical applications that sanitize and deodorize animal surfaces, hard surfaces, as well as fabric surfaces. It contains Byotrol – a patented biotechnology that has been referred to as the silicon chip moment for hygiene. Unlike conventional sanitizing products, Byopet stops bacteria, viruses and germs from working for 24 hours on any surface or skin even after it has dried.
“Anyone who works in close contact with animals can reap the same benefits,” said Mr David Ng, CEO of Pet Lovers Centre. “Not only will our customers and their pets be protected, our in-store staff will also stand to benefit from the available use of the product in our store locations.”
Presently, Byotrol is already being used in human applications around the world, such as hospitals, food preparation areas, ready-meal companies, and especially in areas of disaster such as in the recent Japan tsunami relief efforts. No water is used in application, as the product is not ‘rinsed off’, so in areas where there are water shortages, Byotrol is a vital hygiene breakthrough.
Micro-biologist Stephen Falder, the inventor behind Byotrol, said, “. It is heartening for me to see the technology being transferred into the pet and animal domains, because it means that a host of viruses and bacteria that are common to the pet/animal world can now be easily held at bay, thus protecting pets and people.”
The top names in the pet industry were at the launch event, from Japan, Australia, USA, UK, Thailand, Taiwan and China including the Directors of Byopet.
