Petcor, the manufacturer of natural air-dried Veni-Dog treats, has been awarded the SALSA food accreditation.
SALSA is a food safety certification scheme for food producers. Once accredited, the producers gain a widely-recognised food certification which demonstrates they are producing products in a safe and legal manner. It then enables food producers to keep up to date with legislation and guidance to support their development of food safety management systems specific to their business.
Once businesses have demonstrated, through the audit process, that they are operating to the SALSA Standard for food production, they become fully approved members of the SALSA scheme.
The Veni-Dog production team worked closely with SALSA officials to review all processes and make any necessary adjustments to their manufacturing procedures in order to meet the specific high standards set by SALSA.
“This recent accreditation was a further step to build up our credibility and confidence in the eyes of our customers, seeing that we only use human-grade meat in our products and all aspects of the production process comply with food safety standards”, explains Petcor director Martin Theunissen.
According to Petcor marketing executive Laura Bain: “Our production team have worked incredibly hard and they are very focused on producing products of the highest quality, consistently. Our new SALSA accreditation is an important step in the growth and development of our business.
“ We are continually improving our standards because we know that customers care about their dogs’ nutrition and health We take time in the development of new products because they need to meet our required criteria – natural, sourced in the UK, human-grade, gluten-free, grain-free and hypoallergenic. This accreditation shows that we are sourcing our ingredients locally and ethically, and producing the products hygienically. We believe our stockists and their customers see that this demonstrates what our brand and our team are all about”.
